Otsu, Shiga, Japan｜近江牛焼肉 咲蔵 大津店

I went here last night for dinner as we were stopping by one night in Otsu. This is not the typical 焼肉 restaurant with lots of smoke but instead it’s very elegant and clean, it seems the grill also has a ventilation built in so the smoke is almost none (also the ventilation in the restaurant is excellent). The food: we ordered a mixed plate of meat with different cuts and a mixed plate of meat nigiri. The quality of the meat is very very good, I believe it is also local meat from Shiga prefecture, it was very tender, juicy and with lots of flavour even eaten with salt and pepper to really taste the meat itself. Perhaps next time we’ll order less nigiri as we also had a bowl of rice (it seemed 新米 from Shiga) which was very filling. Service was excellent too, very polite/gentle, professional and efficient/fast. There is a good list of wine and sake, which is always good to have!! Price was adequate for what we ordered. The atmosphere is very elegant and you would get a small room with your own grill so if you are looking to have a quiet dinner and be able to have a conversation with your friends/family then it’s a perfect place. maybe would be nice to add some local craft beers on the menu? Ps: I live in Japan and was visiting Lake Biwako for bit of cycling

I had Yakiniku Kaiseki for 8,800 yen. As expected. I had lunch at the Moriyama store, and my friend I invited was very satisfied, but again, it's just the price. A variety of cuts were served, but all of them were very delicious, with no meaty smell or sinews. The room was new, there was no sticky feeling that is common in Yakiniku restaurants, and it was a private room that felt comfortable. The staff were also very nice. I would like to bring my dear friend again.
