The owner, Yoshi, has been cooking for over 30 years. His food is humble but excellent. Fried maitake mushrooms, amazing karaage, lightly dressed raw maguro, and a personal passion for sake (Nihonshu), which he is eager to share. but the best part is his friendly attitude and super sweet regulars who fill the room. Ask him for “omakase” or “osusume” if you don’t understand the menu— we didn’t. His English isn’t perfect but he understands hospitality no matter the language. Yoshi’s sake recommendations were all excellent, and the house red wine is a legit light bodied and pleasantly plummy, fruity red from a highly regarded local winery. This izakaya is super sweet, super local, and super old school. Come check it out if you’re not sure where to eat. Yoshi will take care of you.
