Ashigawa serves the best eel I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I have eaten my way from Okinawa to Hokkaido and nothing has come close. The eel is always perfectly cooked and their sauce is legendary. The fluffy eel melts in your mouth and spreads happiness through your whole body. There are 4 comfortable tables in the main dining area and two rooms available for reservations. My wife is a huge fan of the kimoyaki, too. If you are lucky enough to go in the winter make sure you try the blowfish sashimi or hot pot! The prices may seem high, but are actually very reasonable for top quality ingredients and a master-level chef.

I visited a restaurant I used to eat at for the first time in about 15 years. The store has a unique layout, with an aquarium at the very back. I feel like eels were swimming around in the past, but maybe I'm wrong? I had the eel top and grilled liver. The prices are completely different than they used to be. The grilled liver came up first. The plump liver has no odor, and the string part has firm elasticity, making it very delicious. Next, the eel was baked in about 15 minutes. The refreshing sauce for the eyes and the plump grilled eel go very well together, allowing you to feel the true flavor of the eel. The fat is removed just right, so it's not too heavy and you can enjoy it deliciously till the end. It comes with liver soup and pickles as garnish. In addition to the traditional cucumbers, carrots, and turnips, the pickles come with yam and smoked duck. I was relieved that the taste remained the same.
