Having lunch at this famous and old Unagi restaurant, unagi kawayu . Clean with the traditional vibes, feeling calm and respected by the staff . The eel food was delicious with great Japanese presentation .

The eel is excellent. I had a high premium eel on rice for 4800 yen, prices might vary. There is a young man who speaks English and there is an English menu so ordering is very easy. I went on Monday and it is all locals, I am the only foreigner. Note: 2023/03, the place is closed on Sunday and Wednesday so please check ahead to avoid disappointment.

This unagi (grilled eel) restaurant, which was established in the edo period (17th century), has been really popular among many people. My recommendation is shirayaki-ju (charcoal grilled eel seasoned with salt on top of the rice with soy-sauce-based sauce). It is a very rare meal from a customer's request. The tastes of the eel and the rice are well-balanced and the texture of them is so soft.
