A long-established eel restaurant and sukiyaki restaurant located behind Alta in Shinjuku. It was founded in 1905 (Meiji 38), and the current building was rebuilt after the Great Kanto Earthquake, making it over 70 years old. Shinjuku has a strong foundation and suffered little damage during the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, and the influx of people from Asakusa and Ginza led to its current development, and in the process, there are only a few shops that still remain. In 2022, the previous chef disappeared and the restaurant is now run by three women, but the taste may have changed and the number of customers may have decreased. However, the taste and price are not much different from Unatetsu in Kabukicho, so I think it's fine if you just want to eat eel. In addition, they also accept credit cards, which is unusual for an old eel restaurant.

I asked for a special order. For someone like me who loves eel, I wasn't satisfied with the unagiju here. Even though it has a long-established atmosphere, the quality is the same as that of a nearby store (lol) The eel is delicious, but the flavor is average, and it's a shame that you can't feel the taste or individuality of this restaurant. The reason I gave it 5 stars is that I would give it 5 if I didn't like eel, so my comments are a little harsh because I have a lot of expectations.

A restaurant I found in an alley on my way to Shinjuku Station!!! ❤️ There was lunch on the menu outside. It wasn't on the menu you gave me, so I looked around. You noticed and told me first!! It has more fat than Korean eel, so it is more savory than protein. It was so sad to see the eel melt away and disappear. When I ate the sweet and sour pickled cabbage and cucumber with the subtle ginger scent, I regretted that I should have eaten something other than the lunch set 😭 Usually, after eating eel, there is a bit of a fishy smell left in my mouth, but it was so clean!!!!!
