Isumi, Chiba, Japan｜Heihachi

An eel restaurant located in the middle of a residential area, between Isumi City Hall and Ohara Station. The restaurant was moved from Chiba City 20 years ago, and is run by a kind couple who love to talk. Her husband is from Tsukishima in Tokyo and is said to be 80 years old, but he is very energetic and looks young. Normally the store opens at 11:30, but I arrived at the store at 10:45 that day and the open sign was down, so I called them just to be sure, and they happily replied, "Okay." Inside the store, there are 4 low tables for 4 people, 3 chairs at the counter, and a massage chair? 2 seats I ordered the Unaju no Bamboo (3,400 yen), which takes a little time because it's prepared and then grilled, but the eel bone rice crackers come out 15 minutes after ordering, and they're crunchy and delicious. 25 minutes after ordering, the eel, pickles, whitebait radish, and shijimi soup are all served. The eel is a little small, but it's well-cooked and fluffy on the inside. The sauce is neither too sweet nor too spicy, just the right taste for my taste. The rice is a little too much (for me). After the meal, coffee is served and we have a lively conversation. Since he is a young man, there may be sudden closures, so it would be helpful if you could confirm over the phone. Parking lot can accommodate 3 cars. It was a store that I wanted to stay open forever.

Enjoy the aromatic grilled eel. The set also includes pickled pickles, grated daikon radish, and miso soup with freshwater clams, bone crackers and grilled turnips before the meal, and coffee after the meal. I can't wait to visit again.
