Narita, Chiba, Japan｜Manpuku-tei

The eel was really delicious and good portion! Great ratio of eel to rice. Soba was amazing as well. Very friendly atmosphere and staff were friendly!

Visited the restaurant on a Saturday for early lunch after going to the Naritasan-Shinsoji Temple and there was a bit of a line but we were seated quickly and even though we didn’t speak or read much Japanese, the server was very kind to hand us the paper menu and he checked off the food we wanted to order for us. We told him we wanted the Soba Ebi Ramen, Tempura, and Katsudon. He noted it on the paper for us and we paid for it in the counter and waited for the food. The food came quick and very fresh and hot. Soba was one of the BEST i have had with the shoyu broth light and flavourful at the same time! tempura had light and crispy batter and fresh shrimp. Katsudon was perfectly cooked and crispy with lots of egg and onions and good sauce. The accompanying soup was refreshing in its herbal tones and the serving is big for Japan. The ambiance is homey and traditional and grandma is supervising the orders and the flow of traffic inside the restaurant. Everyone we saw were locals that day and we’re the only tourists in the building but we felt very welcomed and by the time we finished, there was a very long line outside also ordering freshly bbq eel on the front. Will definitely come back!!!
