Ise, Mie, Japan｜淡水苑

My first visit to Tamsuien, a long-established eel restaurant in Mie. The entrance was paved with gravel in the style of a Japanese garden, and there was a parking space for about 10 cars at the back of the site. It was a little hard to understand at first glance. When you enter through the beautiful store entrance, a staff member will immediately guide you to your seat inside the very clean store. I received tea and towels from a member of staff who spoke Ise dialect and ordered ``Unajyu (bamboo)'' ¥2,400. When you open the box that was delivered to you, you will see the eel transformed into a fluffy eel, covered in a sweet sauce on top of rice, and shiny as if begging to be eaten as soon as possible. One bite will turn your entire concept of eel upside down. This is Japanese eel. It was better than the eel I had in Nagoya. This is a store I would like to visit again.

It was the best eel of my life. Iseyaki is a method of grilling the eel that does not involve skewering the eel, so the flavor does not leak out. Thank you for the meal.

It's a regular rice bowl that's just the right size for when you're feeling a bit hungry. It was delicious🙏
