This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who loves unagi! The atmosphere is classy and authentic, and the staff makes you feel welcome, as if you were sharing a meal at their home (even if you are a foreigner with little Japanese vocabulary). The food and sake were delicious. If you are a foreign traveler in Tsukuba you will enjoy a unique experience with wonderful food. If you are native to the area you will discover unagi that is among the best in the region (per our native Japanese companion). Please visit this hidden gem and see for yourself!

The nanamabushi here is wonderful! It may be my most favorite of all Japanese cuisine. The staff are very friendly and helpful as well. I highly recommend trying ToyoCho if you are looking for an excellent meal in Tsukuba!

Really nice place to have Onagi. The food is well served and the chief is friendly. Eel rice, chicken nuggets, Tsukuba chicken rice, stewed cartilage, all of them are really delicious, and it’s cheaper to come at noon
