Karuizawa, Nagano, Japan｜La theiere

This cafe is located just a 1-2 minute walk from Karuizawa Station. I visited around 3pm on a holiday. I was curious about this tarte tatin, so when I went to the store, they said they didn't make tarte tatin that day, but they said they would make it tomorrow, so I came the next day. When I entered the store, I was relieved to see the tarte tatin sitting there properly. There are about 15 seats for eat-in. There are table seats and sofa seats in the back, making it a quite relaxing space. I had tarte tatin and uva tea. There are also various types of tea. Tarte tatin has chunky apples on top, and the top is caramelized and crispy. A tart is a thin type of puff pastry. The apples still have a moderately crunchy texture and are delicious. It's a little sweet because it's caramelized, but the fresh cream isn't too sweet, so it's just right when you eat it with it! The other cakes looked delicious, so I'd like to come again since it's near the station.

Purchased before heading to the hotel. I ordered scones and chocolate chiffon, which were relatively safe even if the box was tilted as I was heading there by bus. We are closed for food and drink on this day, only takeout. I love scones, and these are so delicious. Even when it's cold, it's still moist and has a buttery flavor. The chocolate chiffon had whipped cream in between, which was also very delicious. One scone costs about 330 yen. Chocolate chiffon costs around 600 yen. Comes with caramel sauce (use the leftovers for scones). It's a 1-2 minute walk from the station, so it's convenient to buy just before getting on the bus, but it took quite a while, probably because they carefully put each scone in a bag (maybe because the area around the resin is narrow). It may take a little more time once dine-in begins.
