Hiroshima, Japan｜Soncho-no-mise

We had our first taste of classic okonomyaki in Hiroshima. This gloriously savoury pancake was cooked on a flat griddle (Japanese teppan). We chose cabbage, bean sprouts, seafood, and topped off with include okonomiyaki sauce (made with Worcestershire sauce), aonori (dried seaweed flakes). We also tried their grilled butter oysters….totally fabulous! We sipped Sapporo out of superbly chilled glasses and the chef had Offspring on rotation over the speakers….awesome Summer lunch vibe! Great food, efficient service. Polite and friendly. Prices are fairly reasonable. But apparently, any okonomiyaki below 800 yen is considered cheap & anything above that is expensive, as according to the locals.

Very good food, cooks in front of you which is super cool. Easy to make vegetarian of what ever.
