Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima, Japan｜ito ke no shokutaku

Go to this bar! We stopped in by chance and had a lovely time - the owner is so friendly and kind (even to us Americans who speak no Japanese), he has a great liquor selection (especially sake and shochu), and he provided us delicious small plates of food to go with our drinks! He also has a great records collection and plays music while you’re there. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Great drinks, food, and vinyl, but most importantly Hiroyuki-San was the single kindest host we had in Japan despite speaking almost no English. If I lived nearby I would come here daily.

Fantastic food, fantastic sake, fantastic wine, perfect service. Beautiful and special place. As a tourist what you are looking for is authenticity and sympathy, the owner has given us all this and also some delicious dishes and fantastic drinks. It should have queue outside like so many places in Tokyo that are even cheaper. A must if you are in the area or if you are passing through Hiroshima or miyajima!
