Yamanochi, Nagano, Japan｜Isamizushi

We were staying at a ryokan up the street and we saw this place and decided to try it out. Sure glad we did as this was amongst the best sushi and sashimi I’ve had. Very nice couple and waitress. Tried a sushi platter and then a sashimi platter. Then the fried oyster set and tempura. Very reasonably priced. We left very happy and content. In fact we came back the next day!

Delicious sushi, freshly made in front of you by a pleasant couple who runs the shop. Lots of locals when we were there (which is always a good sign) that were also very welcoming. Can totally recommend even if you’re a foreigner as they have very clear menus with pictures.

Excellent cozy sushi bar run by one very nice older couple. Just five seats at the sushi bar and two small tables, so be prepared to wait or to come back another night. Sushi is very high quality and reasonably priced. Tempura and agedashi tofu were also excellent. Highly recommend!
