They had ala carte items as well as lunch sets during lunch hours so I was fortunate enough to order some regional items for lunch. I had the Sesame Konnyaku, Pickled Herring and Horse Heart. Each dish was flavorful and unique in their own right, and pairs well with alcohol. Glad to have sampled a glimpse of Aizu cuisine on my jam-packed trip.
This place really is the bees knees. We came back on our next visit to Japan, because the experience was so incredible the first time. We had high expectations the second time - and these were exceeded! You can order vegan food here, and the chef is a Master of making a sumptuous array of food. Truly excellent food of high quality.
I made a reservation online and visited in the evening. The building looks old from the outside, but once you step inside, it has a stylish modern Japanese feel. A good shop that has delicious Aizu food and delicious drinks. First of all, we had bottled beer, squid carrots, wood ear mushrooms, two kinds of herring pickled in sansho, etc. We switched to local sake from Aizu and added horse sashimi and other items. I ate this horse sashimi at many shops and inns in Aizu, but it was by far the most delicious. Another thing worth mentioning is the raw somen noodles I ate at the end. The lustrous appearance and the smoothness that go down the throat were also new to me. I left the store satisfied. It was also a store that I would definitely like to visit.
