Wonderful friendly service and delicate and light local seasonal food. Such a nice welcoming atmosphere, even for a couple of Americans like us with little Japanese. There was no English menu but we managed to order a series of delicious small plates with the help of Google translate and a very kind and friendly server. We had a great time! Highly recommended for those looking for an experience off the beaten tourist path.

Dined here on several occasions while staying at the nearby hotel. Excellent food and very friendly staff. I will happily return here one day.

If you look at the restaurant on the matsumoto-season.com page, it's confusing because it lists both a steak restaurant and a Japanese restaurant. Please note that this is not a steakhouse. I'm a kappo person. I visited thinking it was a steak shop. The food was very delicious, and the female part-time clerk was also efficient and the result was very good.
