Kyoto, Japan｜Bar KOHAKU

My wife and I visited in August '23 and were blown away by this bar. We walked in on a whim after getting dinner nearby and were lucky to be able to secure two seats. We each got a drink and both drinks were excellent. They were also served with small snacks - a great touch. The views from the bar are spectacular - the entire Park Hyatt Kyoto property is as good as any we visited in our time in Japan - and the service was attentive. It seems like many of the bar seats are often reserved by guests at the hotel (which makes sense), but if you have an opportunity to stop in here and you're lucky enough to get a seat, this is well worth the trip.

This place is seriously dangerous. Killer view, a professional femme fatale bartender making delicious, memorable cocktails, and of course, top tier prices. One of my most memorable experiences going out in Kyoto. Strongly recommended but be careful as you might want to come back and end up emptying your whole wallet here. The bar is quite small and prioritizes hotel residents for bookings, so you may need to book in advance or wait before you are seated. The hotel reception staff can advise you if you are walking in.

got lucky and was able to walk in on a Saturday night. good ambiance, intimate lighting and calm atmosphere. Good place for a date or laid back evening. I assume sunsets are popular here as you can get a nice view and overlook Kyoto. Didn’t get to try the cocktails as I didn’t want to mix and had already been drinking wine but the menu looked interesting. Also, the beef jerky snack they served along with pickled lotus root are *chefs kiss* Pricy, but you’re getting top notch quality, service and atmosphere. special occasion place.
