the building is old and has lots of spider nets, can't tell if it is dirty or not...but the food is not bad, the noodles are handmade, so the size is randomly big and small...is kinda funny...it does give an interesting texture. The portion is dangerously big, so be ready....

Jumanseki is located along National Route 18 in Chikuma City. A restaurant that serves delicious handmade udon noodles in an old folk house style store. Sanuki-style udon from the currently trending chain restaurant is not bad, but when I really want to eat udon made by traditional artisans, I come to this restaurant. You can have all kinds of udon, including hot kettle-fried udon, meat udon, tempura udon, cold hiyashi udon, and zaru udon. It's getting cold today, so I ordered nabeyaki udon. Plenty of ingredients, soup, and udon noodles in a large iron pot. Ingredients include large shrimp tempura, hanpen, Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, and shinchiku. As I continued to eat, I was happy to see the hidden soft-boiled egg peeking out. The chewy noodles go well with the soy sauce-based soup and have a slightly twisted texture...a texture that fans of handmade udon won't be able to resist.LOL Happy udon that warms your body and soul from the core.
