The Nabemono (鍋物) here was amazing! Located in the atmospheric old town of Onomichi, this restaurant prepares a unique form of ‘hot pot’ with a stack of beef, meatballs, vegetables and broth cooked over a portable stove. An English menu is available and draft beer is free flowing. Highly recommend!

Sooooo this place has a story; Us, a group of 3 Dutch gaijin travelers came in late on a sunday, everything's closed, like EVERYTHING and man were we hungry, suddenly we passed a group of japanese just exiting a restaurant, we asked if the place was open, too bad, but THERE! One super pretty japanese lady jumped out and with perfect english did so much her best to help us, called in multiple favors(she was a local and knew people) and got us to this place. 5/5 best food! Great presentation, super personell, and overall so tasty! Try the specialty 'served in a pot' thingy, sooo good! Edit: also an english cart(just ask)

It is located in an entertainment district called Shinkai District, about 10 minutes walk from the station. It feels like a nice walk. The scenery along the way that resembles a shopping street during the New Year's holidays and the interior of this store are both truly charming. Malt vinegar is also great.
