Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan｜Katsu Gen Honten

Waited ~5min at noon for a table. The 4 assorted katsu set very nice, consisted of 1 small pork fillet, 2 small pork loin, 1 ebi fry and can choose 1 from conger eel, chicken or oyster. All tasty and not too oily, with plenty of cabbage, as well as miso soup, rice and fruit (taiwanese pineapple)~ service very good, they got English menu too~

Another gem in the neighborhood of the Matsumoto castle. There are so many of such small restaurants to be discovered in that less than a square kilometer of area. The pork loin tonkatsu is not to be missed. Go for the big prawn also. Ask them whether they have oysters. None for me. Too bad.

We had the pork loin cutlet set, it comes with rice and miso soup (which aren't in the photos). The pork is amazingly tender on the inside, but light and crispy on the outside. The staff is friendly and attentive. Incredible value for money.
