Mihara, Hiroshima, Japan｜Daikichi Mihara Ekimae

I found this place by following my nose. The smell of quality meat cooked over charcoal will trump any other scent for the carnivore. A humble husband and wife shop where the man is doing all the grilling. They are quiet, but respectful towards one another in their exchanges. If you are in the neighborhood and want outstanding yaki tori, stop at this eatery. Keep aesthetic expectations low; it is a local hangout (though the locals are cool). Recommendations: 1) Pork belly. Lord have mercy, this was exceptional. Order with a wedge of lemon, or covered with green onions. 2) Chicken skin. When cooked right, it is crispy. 3) Chicken thigh. I hope to visit again soon.

Super tasty for little money. The hosts were very patient with us speaking very little Japanese and seemed to be in an overall good mood, which made our stay very comfortable (seeing the smile on the chef's face was delightful!). P.S.: be aware that smoking is allowed in this restaurant.

Pork belly was out of this world!
