Tamano, Okayama, Japan｜Sumi Habaki

Delicious yakitori at Habaki, the best in Tamano and perhaps the best I've ever had. This meal was undoubtedly one of the food highlights of my trip. I opted for the ¥5000 omakase and enjoyed a couple of (British) craft beers alongside it. The omakase included a selection of eight skewers and three small plates. Each dish was cooked to perfection, and the attention to detail was impressive, especially considering the small portions. The pacing of the dishes was just right – I never felt rushed or left waiting and by the end I felt satisfied in stomach and mind. The very busy staff were friendly and always willing to answer questions ( mostly “Nan da?”). My only minor wish would be to see local craft beers on the menu, but I can't complain about finding Burnt Mill at this remote location.

It's not only cheap, but the food is also amazing. Best place to eat in tamano/uno, no contest, and its right by the station. It does get super busy after 8pm, so expsct to wait 5-25 minutes to be seated. Its worth it.

Excellent grilled chicken/ yakitori Omakase. Unexpected little find while waiting for our ferry from Uno port to Naoshima.
