Kyoto, Japan｜Yakitori Ichiban Fushimiinari-ekimae

What a gem we found when we were on our way back home from the Fushimi shrine and we were looking for a place to eat, and I’m happy to have stumbled upon this sweet local yakitori izakaya spot, since yakitori and drinking is something I have been wanting to do since I arrived to Japan. The place itself at first is intimidating, I mean in the aspect that your first impression is that the place makes you feel that it hasn’t been cleaned for years, but that is not that case, it is cleaned everyday, it just old marks that has been deteriorating the place little by little which gives the restaurant a unique personality and aesthetic to the izakaya. The food itself is really good, and enjoyed every yakitori he offered, but he didn’t have ovary which is one I really wanted to try:( He offers a menu for tourist so they can guide themselves through the options and the owner is such a lovely person, he is a bit shy, but if you try and talk with him he will give you a smile back and enjoy the time with you!

Nice local yakitori shop open late. The manager/owner chatted with me for a while. Would definitely recommend the chicken wings with an ice cold beer!

A no frills restaurant that serves amazing food at an amazing price! Nothing beats freshly grilled meat and beer and most of the skewers are no more than ¥130! Only a 5 minute walk from the entrance of Fushimi Inari so it’s really convenient. If you’re adventurous, I recommend letting the chef choose for you!
