Nagano, Japan｜Kappa Sushi Kamitakada

This was our first conveyor belt restaurant in Japan, and as we speak very little Japanese, we were nervous to try it out. But we didn't need to be, because this place was INCREDIBLE. The staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating. They give you a table number, and you get a tablet with various language options to order from. It's not the conventional type of conveyor belt that's constantly cycling different options past people -- instead you order what looks good on the tablet, and your specific order is whisked directly to your table on the belt (sometimes within a minute!). There's a huge menu with appetizers, sushi/nigiri, and desserts. And it's CHEAP! Each plate of sushi/nigiri is only about $1-2, and the desserts were great for the price (you can't beat a decent, if small, slice of cheesecake for less than $2!). You can check your bill as you go and know exactly how much you'll have to pay when you take your ticket back up front. We ate a pretty good amount of sushi, a meal that probably would've cost the two of us about $75 at a regular sushi restaurant back home, for a grand total of about $30 here. Everything about this restaurant was fantastic. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere and experience. Do not be intimidated. Try it out for yourself!
