Finally tried this place after going past many times. It's kind of older and in a basement, but spotless and does not smell of oil like tonkatsu places can. The set is not cheap -- up to 1600 yen for the priciest -- but good volume and quality. I really liked the thick and crunchy breading and well done but still tender pork. The pickles in the set were good too and I usually don't care for them! The staff is business-like but not rude in my opinion, though no English. Would go again.

I usually visit Kichijoji's long-established tonkatsu restaurant in the evening, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, but this time I visited for the first time during lunch time. The store was supposed to open at 11:30, but on this day it opened late, just after 12:00. There was already a line of about 8 people. I took the opportunity to order the lunch-only pork cutlet lunch. After a short wait, the tonkatsu on a plate was brought out. Although the pork cutlet had a lot of fat, it was delicious. I was disappointed that it didn't come with pickles, but the pork soup had the usual delicious taste and I was satisfied. By the way, when I go out for dinner in the evening, while I wait for my food, I snack on bean sprouts covered in delicious dressing and quench my thirst with beer, then enjoy the delicious Hirekatsu + Fried Shrimp set meal. I would like to visit you again at night. Thank you for the meal this time.

Both the loin and fillet are delicious, but the fried shrimp is exquisite. Pork soup with shiso leaves is also good. No matter when I go, the condiment containers on the table are clean and nice.
