One of the best katsu in Kyoto Station, Porta Dining (11th floor). Unlimited rice, cabbage(salad) and soup.

i think this was my favorite tonkatsu spot of the several we've been to! brother says his meat was overcooked but i thought mine was perfect. portions were generous and the katsu was well fried. service was excellent here! the host and servers were very attentive and kind. they were quick to refill drinks and came around occasionally asking if people wanted seconds of anything (soup, cabbage, rice). they had an english menu and were very friendly. we also got takeout for the rest of the family. the wait was maybe 15-20ish minutes but i said that was okay! they hand you a little card with a number on it and call your number when your order is ready + they have stools outside for people waiting :) surprisingly, the meal held up through the 40 minute trip home. it was still warm and still decently crunchy because they separate the katsu from the lettuce in the box! very thoughtful packaging and overall good value.
