Mito, Ibaraki, Japan｜Katsusato Mitoten

Maybe it's because I haven't eaten many katsudons in Japan yet, but I think this katsu is the best there is at this price point! The meat is tender and easy to bite, flavourful and delicious. The batter is crispy and nice too, and the oil used to fry the katsu is fresh. The rice is surprisingly soft and perfectly complements the crunchiness of the katsu batter. I'd recommend you get it without any miso sauce though. The miso sauce didn't seem to add much depth to the dish, and too much of it soaked into the rice directly.

This is one of the few pork cutlet restaurants around here. The inside of the store is clean and functional. I'm glad they have Nagoya chicken wings on the side menu.

Miso cutlet, which is not available in Niigata, was delicious!
