姫路市紺屋町 Hyogo, Japan｜Suzunoan

Nothing pretentious about this gem of a kizayaki restaurant frequented by locals. No English menu but those signature dishes are accompanied by photos so we could get by. Servers were attentive, polite and tried their best to communicate to us in limited English. The young lady serving us was the best, she got a translator app to make sure she understood us correctly, and was very friendly and approachable. Our dining experience was highly enjoyable and very pleasant indeed. Every dish was beautifully prepared and presented. Beware (in a good way) of their signature home-style chicken, the portion was way larger than the photo! We spent 7,000+ yen on 9 dishes and 1 beer and had leftover because of the generous portion of chicken. They very kindly helped wrapped our food in aluminium foil for takeaway when I requested, although generally Japanese restaurants do not allow takeaway of leftovers for food safety reasons. I visited on a trip from Nagoya to Himeji. I have visited many times as an individual, but this was my first time as a family member. The owner, the hospitality of the staff, and the carefully selected dishes were all excellent. My family also praised everything. Various menus appear depending on the season, so I'd like to visit in winter next time.

I was satisfied with everything. I would like to go again as a reward.
