Even though I live in a port town on the Pacific coast, this is the first time I've had the ``straw-grilled bonito''. Local eggplant and ginkgo from Iida City...they're so delicious. Iida had heard that horse sashimi is famous, so I ordered horse sashimi, Japanese sake, and ``Otaguri,'' grilled horse intestines over an open flame. It's flavorful and delicious. There's a good variety of local sake to choose from, as well as beer and sours. I stopped by on a local train trip, and it seemed like a good place to have a drink on a business trip or with friends. Customers start coming in after 6pm even on weekdays, and I think it's a popular restaurant with good value for money. No-frills, cost-effective, safe for solo travelers.
