Outdoor terrace and indoor dining. The soba and tempura and other dishes were amazing. Just stop by for lunch or dinner when you’re nearby

Matsubara-an is a mid-range restaurant that specializes in tempura (deep-fried vegetables or sea food) and soba (buckwheat noodles).The latter can be ordered cold (on a plate) or hot (in a soup) We tried the vegetable tempura and the hot soba with clams. Both were delicious, as was the potato salad with smoked pickled radish, which we started with, and the rice cake in walnut sauce, which we had for dessert. There is an English menu with pictures. Service was quick when we visited, on a Thursday evening around 8PM. Last order is at 9PM. The restaurant is in a traditional Japanese house that has been reformed and given a modern look. The terrace is very nice to have dinner on in the summer.

Very nice traditional environment: 🍱FOOD: Traditional Japanese dishes, very nice soba plates. I am doing a keto diet so I got duck and tamagoyaki. My sister got the soba and tempura. The entree is a must, you get to taste lots of small flavourful things together, and that’s one of the joys of of traditional Japanese meals. 🏡ENVIRONMENT: Love the traditional Japanese house vibe. The funny thing is that we were looking for another cafe, and accidentally entered this one. It was a happy accident, as Bob Ross would say. Hope you get the reference👌 💸PRICES: On the pricey side, but it is to be expected given the nature or the place. It is a quite fancy traditional Japanese house, serving high quality dishes.
