A small restaurant which has nice Japanese food and sake in Ise. All food we got was amazing and affordable! They only have a Japanese menu though and it’s better to make a book in advance especially in the weekend because they are quite popular with local people.

This is literally my favorite Izakaya on planet Earth, and I have been to the ones on Venus. Seriously though, its a national treasure, with what has to be the best potato salad in the world. Generous and friendly local people, great drinks, and incredible food.

This izakaya is located about a 5-minute walk from Ise-shi Station, near Maruya, which is famous for Ise udon. I visited after 7pm on a Monday, and the shop was very busy, so I had to wait outside for about 5 minutes before entering. When I was greeted by the cheerful voice of the store clerk, an old lady calmly said, ``Welcome,'' and brought me a towel. The counter for single customers is also spacious and nice. Straw-grilled bonito tataki (1,250 yen) Okara salad (490 yen) Boiled tofu (410 yen) Pure rice from Mie's Sake "Saku" (770 yen) I'll do it full time. The seared bonito has lots of seasonings, is smeared with garlic, and the bonito meat is thick. Above all, I like the aroma of straw roasting. Okara salad is a dish similar to potato salad made with okara, and it is hearty and delicious. Besides boiled tofu, there is also a stable flavor that combines the sweetness of soybeans with soy sauce. I had only intended to have a glass of sake, so I chose sake from the beginning, but the product is consistently delicious. It was also available at souvenir shops everywhere. The customers in the store are about half and half Kansai dialect and Kanto dialect (?). The unfamiliar intonation makes you feel like you're traveling. I'm going to visit Ise tomorrow, so I didn't overdo it, but I wish I had asked for more. It's a good izakaya.
