A random encounter post our mega donki visit brought us to this restaurant located at the basement of an old building. A cosy place ran by a couple, this modest restaurant's main was just Japanese curry. The dish came with dry curry sitting atop a bed of Japanese rice, surrounded by a generous moat of wet curry. That's the base. We chose to top ours with sausage & potatoes for one, and fried chicken for another. We polished both plates; I'm not a fan of rice. Everything was delicious, with the right amount of heat and toppings for every spoonful of rice. I had to try that spicy condiment that came with a death symbol to test my spice threshold, and boy was I glad that I only took a few drops.

We stopped by for a late lunch. The place was almost empty. There was no English Menu but the madam tried her best to explain the whole menu to us. The food was delicious and probably one of my favorite meals for this trip. Will definitely consider again when I visit in the future.

I believe this shop is what remains of a chain of curry restaurants that existed some 15+ years ago that went by the name of Pakumori Curry. They had several around Tokyo and you use to be able to buy ready-made packaged Pakumori Curry in the supermarket. There use to be a Pakumori shop in Ichigaya that I would go to nearly everyday for lunch back then when I use to work in the area. Anyway, they changed the name a bit but, it's the same basic menu and the same great taste. I loved it back then and, I'm loving it again now that I found this place. One word of caution, go easy on the spicy hot oil that's in the little red jar at your table, there is a good reason why there's a skull and crossbones on the label.
