Setagaya City, Tokyo, Japan｜Yamanouchi

I have been going here for over 25 years. One of my favourite tonkatsu in Tokyo.

This is a store I've been interested in for a long time. "Tonkatsu Tempura Yamanouchi" is located in Sakuragaoka, Setagaya Ward. As for what I was concerned about... After all, it's "Nodai Katsudon". This katsudon is a much larger version of the regular katsudon for the hungry children of Tokyo University of Agriculture. I ordered my normal size. I think it was 900 yen for a standard serving of Nodai Katsudon... (as of September 2023) I'm sorry if I'm wrong. I feel like it was 980 yen... When you eat a variety of foods every day, you forget about prices. My memories are duplicated. Nodai Katsudon (average) It's about 1.5 times the size of a typical katsudon. A nostalgic katsudon. The batter of the bonito is soft and creamy with the warishita and egg. The warishita soaks into the rice underneath, creating a happy Japanese pork and rice. (&Egg) Free pork soup included. Also, goshinka. Well, even though I was eating it, it was just average. Probably, if you make a large serving, it will be about 1.8 to 2 times the size of a typical katsudon. It's small and looks like a normal katsudon size. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife team and has a homely feel. While I was eating, students from the University of Agriculture came one after another, and they all ordered the University of Agriculture Katsudon. By the way, only the Nodai Katsudon is made by the proprietress. It has an off-black taste. All the students are the landlady's children. This is already it. Good cost performance. I feel full and happy. I also like pork soup because it's delicious. Yes, it's a repeat decision. No complaints.

For lunch, I ate a loin cutlet set meal for 1,300 yen. I thought it was a little expensive, but when the food came out and I took a bite of the cutlet, I thought, ``It's cheap!'' It was tender like a fillet, sweet fat, and the batter was also nice. It stands out and looks good, so I don't recommend it to people who don't like fatty meat, but it's a long-established restaurant that you'll be happy to have forever! 😄😉😋
