Extremely good ! Not much, not too few ! A really balanced menu with tempura and/or sashimi. I took only tempura lunch menu for 1000y and it was delicious ! Ambiance is calm and cosy with a counter, tables and a back room which seemed to be traditional. On the top of that there is an English menu and it seems that at least one staff member speaks English. Overall a really good experience, will come again !!!

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The tempura was outstanding, without a doubt the best I’ve ever eaten in my life. The veggies, shrimp, squid, and fish (kashiwaten) were all fresh, tender, and perfectly cooked. And they all had the light crisp coating you’re always looking for in tempura. The soba and udon noodle soups were springy and perfectly seasoned too. The drinks were also great - the grapefruit sour was served with a fresh grapefruit half to juice yourself and add as a you please which was delightful and delicious. And the highball was ice cold. On top of the food, the service was fantastic too. My wife and I walked in a half hour before closing, but the owners still warmly welcomed us in. There was a minor language barrier, but ordering and communication was easy. Everything came out of the kitchen quickly. And the price was a total bargain for the quality. All together it’s just a fantastic small restaurant, the kind of place that makes Tokyo dining great. If you happen to be staying in Nishishinjuku then stopping by is a must. If you’re staying elsewhere, then taking the subway over is definitely worthwhile too.

Tempura was very good. Staff was very friendly, they provide English menus if needed.
