``Kanekichi'' in Kita Urawa is a renovated fish shop in a shopping district that is half izakaya and half fish shop, and is open from 4 p.m. The restaurant is run by a family and has a cozy atmosphere, with the father in charge of the fresh fish (sashimi), the mother in charge of the fried and simmered dishes, and the young chef in charge of the grilled dishes. When I want to eat fresh fish, I naturally go to Kanekichi. Since we are basically a fish shop, we open early and take last orders early. The set menu requires one additional order (drinks or food are OK).

I lived in Niigata for a long time, but I was surprised by the firefly squid on the appetizer. The eyes are processed and plump!
