Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi, Japan｜Sakigake

This place was easily the best food we’ve had in Japan, and we’ve travelled from Osaka up to Fujisan so far, eating great food the entire way. We happened upon it just a few minutes walk from our accommodation, it was so affordable, even for two students on a budget - the staff were so lovely, the cocktails delicious and the food was absolutely incredible. This level of cuisine is considered fine dining back home in Australia - even the table appetiser was delicious. On top of that, the space was so beautiful and had really considered design elements throughout. So glad we stumbled in here! Order the wasabi stems in soy sauce for a wonderful pickle dish, and don’t sleep on the banana wine!

What a beautiful izakaya! The entry is small and faces the road - it is hidden behind a curtain. You need to remove your shoes before entering the restaurant. This place has a beautiful fit out. There is an english menu however I recommend visiting their Instagram page and ordering off of that. I would definitely return to eat here.

Fantastic place with great food and great service. No idea why people complained about any of this and for around A$50 each, we ate so much food and had a few drinks. If people want to complain about the price of food, don’t come to Australia or you’ll be in for a rude shock!!! 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
