Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan｜Umi Hachikyo

We came here without a reservation late at night. The place was busy and we were lucky to get a seat in roughly 10 minutes. The staff didn’t really speak English but they were extremely friendly and they had English menu. The food was delicious and the ambiance is great because of the hardworking staff seemed genuinely enjoying their jobs.

Food is great - the scallops were amazing! The soft cream was also great. It’s better to go a bit before 6 and go in when it opens if you don’t have a reservation. The place is usually fully booked.

A nice lady that I met on the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Hakodate who worked in the hon-maguro (blue-fin tuna) industry recommended Umi Hachikyo. They are very popular. I tried calling but no luck. Upon arriving in Sapporo, I walked there and was happy to be able to make a reservation for 5pm...2 days later! Great food and experience!
