Tochigi, Japan｜Shiki

It was a nice izakaya. The food was delicious and served quickly even though there were a lot of customers. Especially in Tochigi City, there are only a few non-chain restaurants, so it was great to have a restaurant like this inside the hotel. The hotel's dinner plan seemed to be a set menu, but even if you don't have a dinner plan, if you show your card key, you can get a free drink worth 500 yen (if it's over 500 yen, you get a 500 yen discount), so it's a good deal. The eggs in the Umaki were a bit too sweet, which was disappointing since I don't like sweet tamagoyaki, but everything else was delicious. The 300 yen ham cutlet is a great deal. There were 4 types of Japanese sake (local sake from Tochigi + general ones like Takashimizu). Cedar Namiki and Shikizakura are available in 300ml bottles. Tentaka and Houou Mita are served in large portions in glasses. As a Japanese sake lover, I wish they had a little more variety of Junmai Ginjo, like Senkin or Sugata, but overall it was a place I would visit if I had the chance to stay there again.

I read the reviews. I am impressed by the menu full of Ai Tochigi. Fresh ginger from Iwashita, sausage from Takizawa ham, and cold tofu from Toyomiya - the best I was alone, but I drank delicious sake slowly with delicious snacks! ️

I used it during the Obon period. There aren't many restaurants around, so we visited this one, which was adjacent to where we were staying. It was very quiet and comfortable, and the food was fresh and reasonably priced. There is also a wide selection of local cuisine, and the size of the Shimesaba sushi is surprisingly large! The sashimi was also cut into large pieces and I was very satisfied.
