Shakotan is a Hokkaido restaurant located in the center of Otawara. You can already feel the atmosphere from the store's appearance. The interior of the store has icons representing Hokkaido all over the place, making the space feel larger than it actually is without looking too cluttered. This time, I ordered the omakase course that I made a reservation for. We tried the restaurant's recommended potato butter, seafood, tempura, grilled fish, and more, all of which were excellent. Needless to say, the potato butter has a fluffy texture, a sweetness that's more than you can imagine, and a firm texture. The sashimi is so fresh and sticky that you'll forget it's a prefecture with no sea. Let us enjoy Hokkaido to the fullest. Everyone at the store is very friendly and the hospitality is wonderful. They paid attention to this and made various suggestions, and I was able to arrange the ochazuke that was added at the end. Even with my personal love for Hokkaido, this restaurant was perfect and satisfying. Recommended for both private and business use with people you want to eat with. I will come again. Grilled mackerel set meal. The small dishes and soups here are all delicious, the shop is clean and has a nice atmosphere, and the owner and the proprietress are kind, so you can't go wrong! I was surprised at how sweet the potato butter and potatoes I tasted it was. However, if you don't make a reservation even for lunch, the food you want to eat will be sold out quickly, so reservations are essential even if you're alone! Thank you for the meal♪

First visit for lunch. This hidden shop is located in a place that is difficult to reach unless you look it up on YouTube in advance. At first glance, it seems a bit difficult to get into, but both the landlady and the second generation are frank. I was greeted with pleasant customer service and guided to my seat. The store was said to open at 11:30, but when I entered the store around 11:40, there were already about three groups of customers in front of me, and the number of customers that continued to come in after that showed how popular it was. This time, I ordered the tuna nakaochizuke rice bowl, which is considered to be the signature menu for lunch. The rice bowl arrived in about 10 minutes after ordering. The small side dishes are sumptuous with kamaboko, clams boiled in tsukudani and egg rolls, spinach ohitashi, and homemade rice bran pickles. I ordered the main pickled rice bowl with a large serving of rice, but the arrangement was so generous that you couldn't even see the rice as it was topped with so much pickled tuna. I had a large serving of rice, and the amount of rice and tuna is about the same, so you can double the amount of rice. Actually, I don't have enough food. The pickles have a strong wasabi and soy sauce flavor, so there is no need to add soy sauce later. The unique sticky texture and flavor of pickled tuna is the best. I can't stop eating food. This time, the Indian tuna seems to be of low quality, and you can tell from the first bite that it is of high quality. Such delicious tuna costs 990 yen. Is it the best cost performance? The miso soup has a refreshing flavor that allows you to taste the dashi stock, and it is also of the quality typical of a Japanese restaurant. Again, this price is 990 yen including tax. It was a surprise or a blessing. Note that lunch seems to end once the cooked rice runs out, so if you want to be sure to eat, we recommend arriving before 12:00. Since it is a Japanese restaurant, it is mainly open in the evening, but after receiving a high-quality lunch like the one I experienced this time, my expectations for the restaurant opening in the evening skyrocket.
