More Comments at Google MapI used to frequent to this curry restaurant with my parents in the 1970s when I was growing up in Jurinji, Sanada machi. I’ve not been here for nearly 30 years now, but amazingly べんがる is still is operating. べんがるカレー is to me the BEST curry restaurant in the world! When I returned after many years of absence in the 1980s the previous owner of the restaurant recognized me and said 'hello'. After reading the recent reviews, it appears that the original owner has retired and has passed on his magic to a younger generation. I am wanting to go back there again to Ueda city, just to visit べんがる, and one day, I will, all the way from Australia where I live now. For overseas travellers who are passing by Ueda, please drop in at this amazing restaurant because you will taste the best coleslaw and curry in the world. I kid you not! Highly recommended!!
I had the Bengal curry, and my husband, who went with me, had the limited edition curry with cutlet on top. First, the coleslaw vegetables come out. I'm not good at many things, but the food here was so delicious that I was debating whether or not to buy it plain. and… A rich roux packed with flavor, a thick cutlet, and a curry with lots of vegetables. It was delicious and made me feel happy. They made it very carefully, and the cutlet curry in particular was the best value for money. It was really delicious.
I was tired of waiting in line at a certain soba shop, so I came here. I think this was the store that Shotaro Ikenami stopped by during his interview. Ordered cutlet curry. This curry roux is rich, like Yamaguchi Prefecture's ``Buruuberu,'' and has an even stronger beef flavor. Some people seem to say that the amount of rice is small for the price, but it would certainly be small for young people. But it's enough for a 50's stomach. What I want you to realize is that you don't often come across this rich and flavorful roux.
