Iiyama, Nagano, Japan｜カリースパイス山路

If you are visiting Nozawaonsen, we highly recommend making the 10 minute drive into Iiyama and visiting this quaint little restaurant. Despite not speaking any English (and us not much Japanese), the lovely owner was so kind and made us feel so welcome, even walking out onto the street to wave us goodbye when we left. It was such an authentic Japanese experience and a real highlight of our snowboarding trip. The curry is not the traditional "Japanese" style curry you might find at ski resorts but was nonetheless delicious. There were three different types of chicken curry on the menu - Yamaji original (sour), a butter chicken curry and the Chef's "Whimsical" curry. You could order one, two or all three types of curry as a lunch set with a drink - the portions were generous and very reasonably priced.

I came here because the restaurant has a reputation for delicious food. The inside of the store retains the atmosphere of a night snack, but has a stylish feel with jazz music playing. There were magazines, too, so I waited excitedly. The three types of Aigake curry that I ordered were all exquisite. . I was especially impressed by the chicken curry, which was more delicious than any curry I've ever had. The spices are just right, and the chicken is chunky, making it very filling. This week's daily special was the beef tendon stew curry, which was also very delicious with the Japanese soup stock and the rich, guinea-like flavor of the beef tendon. The atmosphere of the shop is nice, and I would like to go there again!

Eh, are you here? ! The exterior looks like that, but once you enter, the atmosphere and BGM are the best. I ate spice curry for the first time, but it has become my favorite 😌 You can drink beer with spice curry 🍛🍻 The spices will warm you up 🤤
