More Comments at Google Mapwanted to gatekeep this, but they’re just one of the best places in tokyo for a more local experience. The restaurant is inspired in a 食堂, that means CAFETERIA style. On mornings and lunchtime it gets quite the turnover: So, as you walk in in either morning or lunch you’re instructed by a member of the staff to choose your main dish (only Japanese available but they do have pictures) and grab a tag with it written on. Then you pick up smaller dishes, the variety is amazing, they’re all delicious and some are freshly made like the tamagoyaki, sukiyaki bowl, sashimi etc. As for dietary restrictions, they have pointed out vegan and vegetarian options as well. After choosing your dishes you get to choose between a few options of rice and soup. Then you take your tray to the table and wait for the main dish to come, since it’s made on demand. The shop is really famous for the quality of their sea food and fish, so I’d recommend those :) After getting your main/hot dish the waiter will come once again to your table to count your dishes and add to the bill. A QR code that you pay by yourself on a self-checkout. Cash & Credit. (over all the food is 10/10 as well and the interior super cute to match the bougie “ebisu lifestyle”.)
It is a Japanese teishoku restaurant, open quite early in the morning. If you went around 12, expect a fairly quick queue. It appears it was small from outside, but it is not! The idea is self service, just like when you are in your University’s cafeteria. Pick a main dish (there are charms with multiple color representing the main dish, the dish name is written in Kanji though but they do have the picture), and grab view side dish. I recommend the tamagoyaki as it is fresh! Then, you can pick the rice. There were 3 options when I came, brown rice, white rice, and mugi rice. The rice is not free refill. Also, there were 2 kind of soups, miso and kinoko soup. Then basically you take the tray to your table and wait the main dish to come as it is made by order. When your main dish has come, the waiter will come once again to check whether all your dishes are correct. Then she/he will leave you the barcode to pay with self checkout. It has both card and cash payment options!
I almost hate to leave a positive review because I want to keep this joint as my secret go to place. But this place deserves the praise I was in Japan for five days and I craved and prayed for some traditional Japanese breakfast. But I have some dietary restrictions and I’d rather eat at a locally owned small restaurant than Denny’s. The last time I had this kind of high grade and wide variety of small dishes for breakfast was at a Ryokan - bed and breakfast in Hakone. I was so impressed the first time I visited there, I went back the last day of my japan trip. Great customer service. Just tell them it’s your first time if you don’t know what to order. Check this place out before it becomes insanely busy. #glutenfree #covidsafe #familyfriendly #smallbusiness #eatlocal #japanesebreakfast #ebisu
