Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan｜モモセ精肉店 松本駅前店

We went here from a recommendation from a Matsumoto local. I heard that Matsumoto is known for its horse sashimi so I was very interested as this wasn’t something I could try elsewhere. Note that the restaurant is located on the second floor. We ordered the horse sashimi combo as well as the fried mountain goat! The horse was very delicious and the mountain goat was so tender and mild - that one was a sleeper hit! This place was quiet and the owner was helpful to us and didn’t mind that we didn’t speak much Japanese. There aren’t English menus so you will need google translate to check out the menus. I recommend this place as a real Matsumoto experience.

The entrance was on the south side and was difficult to find. Assortment of 4 types of horse sashimi, the two types in the middle were so unique that I couldn't understand them. The steak sold by weight is tender and delicious. Roast beef is exquisite! It was so delicious. Credit cards available
