Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan｜Kamikura

Great little family-run restaurant, where you can try one of Okayama’s specialties: Sawara fish. We ordered the “Sawara shio tataki teishoku” (¥1,800) - a full meal with sawara sashimi, probably their most famous dish - and the Tendon (¥1,300) (tempura rice bowl), all very good. They also have kaki fry teishoku (deep fried oyster meal) and Lemon Udon, made with Setouchi lemon, which must be great on Summer. The ambient is simple, with a few counter seats and some tables in a tatami room.

Highly recommend the tempura and udon

I was staying in Kurashiki from Hokkaido on a business trip, so I wanted to try some local specialties, so I stopped by. The mackerel, which is not familiar to Hokkaido, the makari, and the meaty and sweet octopus, all of which were delicious. I would like to stop by again when I come to Kurashiki.
