Gero, Gifu, Japan｜Goen

Last time, it was early summer, so the tempura was mainly wild vegetables, but this time it was autumnal, with mushrooms grown in the mountains. The flavor was very good, probably because the mushrooms were freshly picked. I had it with tempura soup and rock salt that was on the table. The owner seems to be a very kind person, and is very knowledgeable about wild vegetables and mushrooms, and says that he collects them in the mountains of Gero at this time of year, being careful of bears. The soba is 100 percent soba, which also has a good taste and texture, which is a big hit for me, who loves soba. As mentioned in other reviews, it seems like it takes quite a while because the owner is the only one in charge of the service. Therefore, it is best to go with plenty of time. When I visited, probably because it was a weekday, there were no other customers, so my order was served within about 30 minutes. The atmosphere of the shop is like a private house turned into a shop, making you feel like you are visiting relatives in the countryside. I thought the toilet was a pump type (Western style) which was unusual. It was delicious, so I would like to repeat it again. Next time I'll probably try wild vegetables.

I accidentally drove and found this shop. It is a home and restaurant. The owner of the shop is a cheerful grandpa. I ordered the famous soba noodles and udon noodles + tempura🍤. It was really great to eat Japanese local food + a rural atmosphere in a Japanese home💯

The wild vegetable tempura is absolutely delicious. The amount was huge, and my stomach was also full. The price is 2000 yen and it's a satisfying meal. According to the owner, it would be a waste to leave any leftovers and throw them away, so he is very service-oriented.
