More Comments at Google MapWonderful hidden izakaya in the heart of Tajimi. It is difficult to be found but as soon as you enter the (very) small entrance door, you start enjoying the cheerfulness of Mama san and her mates. The food is superb, cooked or raw but very traditional (tempura overall). At the same time you can find modern interpretation of traditional recipes. The atmosphere is very relaxing, at counter or tables. No one speak English but you can have fun, as well, just chat we other people...and drink Nihon shu! Most of the dishes are on display, so you can just order showing what you want to eat.
I had the best experience. Ingredients are lined up on the counter and there is no menu. I'm interested in food, so I can identify the ingredients, but if you're not that interested, it might not be interesting. But it's good that the shop is arranging the delicious things of the day. I'm getting excited. The word gochiso originally comes from a place where people run around and collect ingredients to entertain people. It may be good to come to Tajimi again to come to this shop.
I tried to make a reservation for 6 people because it was a popular local restaurant, but they accepted it. You can transport draft beer on the second floor, or get a whole platter from the counter. It was a fun and delicious restaurant. They have a wide variety of sake and shochu, so I would love to go there again if I have the chance!
