Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan｜Hamayoshi Mamakari-tei

We had dinner in Kurashiki in this lovely place hidden in the small streets of this historical town. The whole menu was based on Sawara Meckrel, which we got served in 4 different delicious dishes. From sashimi, to grilled, to shabu shabu. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere lovely. We sat on the tatami sipping different types of sake and enjoying our meal. It was a lovely experience!

We had an all-you-can-drink course meal. Appropriate amount of delicious food in a small bowl, the amount may not be enough for young people. It would be perfect if there were a few more types of all-you-can-drink sake, but there are good sake, so it might be recommended to enjoy a rare brand rather than all-you-can-drink. Because it is very close to Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, you can also enjoy sightseeing at night. For tourists, it was an affordable and easy-to-enter shop.

It is a store that is said to have been renovated from a 200-year-old storehouse. I asked 4 people without a reservation, but I was told that another customer had a reservation, so I was guided to the tatami room on the 2nd floor. I usually prefer meat to fish, but all the fish dishes served were delicious. A friend with a discerning tongue also ate it because it was delicious. In particular, I ate mackerel sashimi and grilled helmet for the first time, but I was surprised that it was so delicious. The rice cake and the conger eel were also delicious. The tomato compote is also refreshing and recommended. The amount of food served on the plate was appropriate, and it was served well. This is a recommended restaurant for those who want to taste delicious food little by little. The most reliable way is to ask the chef for his recommended dishes. As it is said that it is a renovated storehouse, the ceiling on the second floor is high and you can see the solid beams. I think it's the perfect space to spend time slowly. The staff at the store were also polite and sincere in their service, and I was able to spend a comfortable time. It is a shop that I would like to visit again.
