Kakegawa, Shizuoka, Japan｜Norakuro

This was a great experience. The sashimi set was over the top delicious. The fish was super fresh and high quality. The egg dish was also great. The staff were extremely helpful with the menu. The only complaint is the menu is hard to read. I even heard a Japanese person comment on that. The writing is artistic, so much so that Google translate couldn’t get much of it. But the staff helped me understand. This would be harder for someone who speaks no Japanese.

Can’t believe that after all our years travelling different parts of Japan, the best Izakaya would be found in the quaint city of Kakegawa. The food is exquisite and really well balanced, in fact I would call it special. Attention to detail is amazing. For such quality, I feel the prices are too cheap. Special thanks to to Mihon San, Akino San and Chef Ken San (apologies I probably spelt Mihon and Akino San incorrectly), for such a memorable evening. Worth to make a trip to Kakegawa just for this dining experience!

It's an izakaya for adults where you can enjoy hand-crafted luxury cuisine, with a focus on fresh fish. It has a stylish bar-like atmosphere with subdued and dark lighting. This time I used it on a course. Starting with stylish appetizers, the sashimi was top-notch, and the tempura was neatly arranged on a platter for each person, and everything was delicious until the end.
