It was exceptional. Totally unexpected. The place doesn't look like a fancy restaurant at all. It was hard to find – we did because locals sent us here. The food, the hostess's friendliness... It was a highlight of our visit to Japan.

best izakaya near Arima onsen. there's no English menu but if you brave enough ,you wil have wonderful experiences.

A bit difficult to find and maybe it's imposing to climb up to the second floor but the place is surprisingly spacious. Lots of people eating and drinking around 8:30. I was immediately offered an English menu! They're right across from the train Depot too. Prices seem reasonable. Atmosphere was lively and friendly when I went - 12/14 seats filled but they made room for me. I'm reassured I get to enjoy something other than conbini food - would definitely recommend for eating or drinking!
