I used to go to Toiyacho when I was a child. At night, the place is as quiet as a shuttered town, with the lights of restaurants popping out. The appearance of the store looks delicious. I called again to make a reservation and visited on Christmas Eve. The counter style of the open kitchen gives it the atmosphere of an izakaya-kappo restaurant. There are about 8 seats at the counter, 2 tables that seat 6 people, and a private room with a table that seats 8 people on the second floor. There were two groups of regulars other than us, but they both seemed to be enjoying course meals. Regarding the food, I was a little disappointed that the first appetizer that was served didn't say ``herring roe with cream cheese,'' but the combination with cheese was innovative and the taste was delicious. Other dishes are ordered a la carte. We have ``Cod Milt Ponzu 1000 Yen,'' ``Oyster Shabu Shabu 1500 Yen,'' ``Hida Beef A5 Steak 2800 Yen,'' and ``Rare Tuna Cutlet 1000 Yen.'' The seared Shirako and ponzu jelly is exquisite. Also, the rare cutlet tuna is called long-waisted tuna. I had eaten it in Nagasaki before, but I never thought I'd be able to eat it in a prefecture with no sea. It had a moderately fatty taste, without the sourness and iron taste typical of tuna.
