Hakuba, Nagano, Japan｜Izakaya Hie Hakuba - Japanese Sake & Foods

We as 2 people walked in without a reservation and got lucky to find a table. Orders are made from a tablet and is convenient for non-japanese speakers. The service is quite fast. The star of the table was the beef sushi. Apart from the "show", it was incredibly smooth and tender. Besides the potato salad, Tuna-avocado, and lotus with cheese were also fantastic. Fried tofu was a disappointment. Chicken skin yakitori is ok. Mochi was nice but the slimy sauce might not be for everyone.

The atmosphere is very at home feeling. We booked a small booth for out table, super comfortable and warm on a cold winter evening! On the ceiling it looked like there is a plane propeller on top which was interesting. The staffs are also super friendly, the service was great! All the food that we ordered were delicious! Ibuigakko with the cream cheese is my favourite!! It goes very well the sake!!

Authentic Japanese food and excellent service in a cozy izakaya atmosphere. The menu is available in English and has a wide variety of options from sushi to yakitori. We had the smoked duck, Japanese beef sushi and the sushi platter. All three were delicious and if we weren’t so full we would have ordered more all the food going out to tables looked so good! We had no problem walking in/getting seats for two but it’s quite small and was completely full when we left, would recommend reservations for larger groups.
